Tumblr deletes millions of reblogs for promoting hate speech

Tumblr has started a mass reblog deletion intended to purge traces of hate speech from suspended blogs on its system. In a publish saying the go, the organization mentioned it is in the midst of taking away 4.47 million posts reblogging articles from virtually a thousand Nazi-linked blogs that had by now been frozen and deleted.

Tumblr explained that most of the current hate speech posts on its website arrived from those people blogs, living on as reblogs even immediately after they’d been taken out. And given that the reblogs “rarely contained the variety of counter-speech that serves to hold hateful rhetoric in check” — they weren’t getting employed as educational examples by people today building counter-arguments to hate speech, for occasion — Tumblr determined to change the way it promotions with them. In the potential, it will assess blogs suspended for hate speech and make a decision on whether mass deleting reblogs from them is the finest system of action.
